Champagne, cake, snacks, hats, party blowouts, wine and venom. That’s all that’s needed to celebrate Mees’ 50th birthday. Though most gay men above thirty may not like to be reminded of their mortality, Mees’ friends won’t let his milestone go by unnoticed. Tacking on a week-end stay-over with friends, exes and new young loves makes sure that no one actually gets around to the party itself.
Friendships based on faded love and the inability to let go of one’s past pull the bow of tension as tight as a spring.
Niek(23), Sym(33), Jean(38), Berend(39), Bram(39 for 6 years already) and Mees(49) provide a birthday party that makes one glad to witness it as part of the audience and not as a guest.
