| The work of the sixteen exhibitors is mostly colorful and rich in
contrast, but the title also refers to the cultural background of the
artists, their themes or their involvement with variegated Dutch culture.
As, for instance, the from origin Indonesian Edith Bons from Hoogezand
says, “Holland says it is an intercultural society, but intercultural
to me means interaction, taking over things from the other culture as
well, but that only rarely happens.”
Inez Bulthuis from Doorn presents a large panel with texts from the Universals
Declaration of Human Rights.
Diederik Grootjans from Nijmegen presents intimate oil canvases, painted
from a dark model, which have not been on display before. The other participants
of the exhibition are: Marian Meerbeek (Den Haag), Abdel Farahi (Utrecht),
Lianne de Lepper (Den Bosch), Mascha Haring (Amsterdam), Nynke Kuipers
(Amsterdam), Brigit van Tongeren (Amsterdam), Inez Bulthuis (Doorn), Gabrielle
Kroese (Groningen), Li Xiao-Feng (Amsterdam), Caja Wong-Chung (Alkmaar)
and Gerard van Rijnsoever (Utrecht).
