“My work is a game I want to play, in which I want take myself
and the observer into imagination, into the inner world. Peter
Colstee
Peter Colstee has gained especial renown by cooperating, by invitation
of colleague Rob Scholte, on the greatest mural of the century in ‘Paleis
Huis Ten Bosch’ (the Royal Palace) in the ‘Holland Village’
in Japanese Nagasaki. In October 1997 Colstee made the news when he refused
to exhibit his work-figurative nudes and portraits- in the Arnhemse Provinciehuis
because the exhibition-assistant there feared his work would meet with
disapproval and that the artist even might have to censure his work. The
exhibition in Villa Lila shows completely new work by this artist. Technically
perfectly painted figurative compositions, which seem to balance on the
edge of art and kitsch.
Myles Anthony
Myles Anthony, born in Dublin, has been drawing from early childhood.
In the Sixties he was the artistic leader of the group that made Carnaby
Street in London into a success. As a result of this he got many commissions,
mostly in Europe, the USA and Canada where he lived for a while. He calls
his work quietly erotic, in which--apart from his commercial work--he
succeeded in developing his own style and technique in water colors and
gouache.
